Thing 3: Online Communication

So you want to communicate.

There a number of ways to communicate these days. (what ever happened to talking)?

Sure we have all these devices and technology but what about good old fashioned email? Especially when it is FREE.

Wait. Did you say free?

Yep, I said FREE!

Email has been around longer than the Internet—early inceptions date to the late 1960s using mainframe computers. Now, almost everyone has at least one email address. With more than 1.5 billion email users sending 183 million email messages a day, it would seem email has a prominent role in online communication and collaboration, in spite of so many of these new tools. Everyone needs to understand and use email. A few of the more popular email services are Gmail, Yahoo mail, and Hotmail.

Yeah well, that’s all very fine and good to know, but isn’t there more? More available for ME? All I’ve ever wanted was everything.

Of course there’s more, mon petit. It’s a little slice of some-some called My Ai Campus.com (Student Portal) account and you should be using it.

Your passive-aggressive nature belies your next question. The "why" that is anxiously waiting to leap from your tongue and be liberated from your quivering lips. Just go ahead and ask already.

Why? Why should I use the student portal?

[heavy sigh] Think about it. You are connected to a network of internal information that you’re gonna need in order to be a successful Ai student. Not only is email available through My Ai Campus.com but also grades, class information, calendars, forums, online registration and much more.

Not only is it fun but it’s easy to use as well!

Now d’you get it?

Well alright then, it's time to get your communicaysh-ON.

Check out My Ai Campus.com, email, the school website and library resources available to you.

1. Make sure your student portal account is up and active.
If you are a new student to Ai Minnesota, you should have received a letter in your orientation packet with detailed instructions on how to set up your account. If you are a registered student at Ai Minnesota your student portal account has been activated and you can go
here to log in.

If you are a continuing student and having trouble logging onto your My Ai Campus.com account I strongly recomment contacting Mark Thomes for assistance. He loves getting email.

2. Once you have logged into your account, nose around a bit and get familiar with the content.

3. Send an email to the "16 Things Central Command Center" at
aim16things@aii.edu from your student portal email account, to show you have completed this mission.

For more info about OLS check out the
